Sat Sep 1 2006

Well, here we are once again in the primitive desktop blogging software known only as "Blog Entry Poster". No points for originality there. It has an annoying spell check feature that oddly enough doesn't consider the word "blog" to exist. Ironic, no?

Lahore is experiencing some fantastic weather these days. Yesterday had bright crisp blue skies with a beautiful cold breeze, a bow (since it wasn't raining, all you folks with lesser principles might still call it a rainbow), and great clouds. Today began with thunder at around 8 AM and more or less continuous rain throughout the day till now (4:22 PM, (drat, missed by 2 minutes)). With the great weather comes the spotting of three new 2006 model Civics on separate occasions. Pretty nice looking, I must say. It's hard to imagine it comes from the same Honda that made the last two Cities, but more in line with the Honda that made the 2004 Accord (the Accura for amreekans).

The freshies were out in force in LUMS today. Being an orientation day (they were supposed to have it in the main courtyard - open air, talk about good planning) everyone was flocking around in big crowds looking thoroughly confused, wet and disgruntled. The PDC was packed. Mind you - if it's in this state when ONLY the freshman and some MBAs are around, I can only imagine what it'll be when the full force of BSc arrives. Pandemonium should be a close guess. I hope for everyones' sake the PDC completes their expansion ASAFP.

All we need now is a LUMinite Baloch-supporting political group that'll riot on the streets outside the PDC and we'll be eligible to be called a Pakistani City. They'd even burn down the odd Khokha or two, saying the Punjabis are taking over all the business. I wonder how well the Marxists will get along with the Balochi-types. As compatible as their ideologies may be on paper, politics in whatever form is a rather unpredictable, messy business, don't you think?

And as if I hadn't pretended to know enough about politics already, I will mention that Blogger.com has been blocked in Pakistan for the third time. These confused buggers really should make up their mind. Some people say this recent blocking is because of the Bugti incident, but IMHO they give the PTA more credit than is due (someones razor, what was that again hub?)
